We have an exciting 2012 House Concert season coming together

We don't have all of the show slots filled yet, but we just couldn't wait to give you a sneak peek!

We're very excited to present to you our first artist of the 2012 season- Arborea!

On Friday March 30 Arborea will envelope you with silky vocals, visual lyrics and sparse but powerful string arrangements. A perfect blend of sound that will leave you feeling at ease.

We're thrilled to bring this breath-taking musical experience to you.

"Arborea is a musical duo from Maine, formed in the summer of 2005 by wife and husband Shanti Curran and Buck Curran. Since 2007 they've toured extensively throughout the US, UK, and Europe, curated two various artists compilations; We are All One, In the Sun: A Tribute to Robbie Basho and Leaves of Life, and released several full length albums"

For our next house concert we are proud to present singer/songwriter Daniel Boling.

I first heard Daniel performing at a large folk conference last year. This year he is a featured performer at that conference! I suggest you visit his website before coming to the show, you'll see and hear why we chose him to close out our 2011 concert season. He is a great storyteller with a warm personality and a somewhat sideways sense of humor.

Please note that this is the last show we will be hosting before ol' man winter sets in, so you definitely do not want to miss it!

Greetings -
We have many types of audience members; planners (like my wife) and laggers (like me). For you planners out there, here's the early news for September.

NEXT HHCS SHOW:

Our next concert will be an afternoon show on Sunday September 18; potluck luncheon at 1PM (bring a dish to share), concert at 2PM. We will be hosting The Womack Family Band. They are fantastic, amazing voices, great songs and talented musicians. You won't be disappointed!

WE STILL NEED FEEDBACK:

We're considering hosting an additional series called Dinner And Song. These shows will be "cozier", with less guests. The plan is to have a "non formal" sit down dinner with guests and the artist (as opposed to the potluck we have for the full size shows), then have the performer(s) play for us. As with regular HHCS shows we would ask for a suggested cash donation, all for the artist. What do you think? Would you attend if you could? Please let me know your thoughts. Greetings fans of the Hitt House Concert Series- I have some info and questions for you below. Please read this when you have some time, it will really be a big help for us as we try to improve your experience with our concert series.

THE JULY 15 SHOW DEBRIEF:

Wow, what a great response we've had to our concert series in one short year! The Amy Petty show was great, thanks so much to those of you who attended. Amy posted on FB right after the show and said "Tuckered out after an awesome Hitt House Concert. House Concerts are my faaaavorite and this one goes down as one of the best!"

I wanted you HHCS fans to know, because you're the reason our concerts succeed. FYI, Amy Petty's Facebook page is right here if you'd like to keep up with her.

Also- thanks to those of you who added your email addy's to our list. It really helps us keep in touch with you easily.

TWO IMPORTANT REQUESTS:

I realize everyone is busy, but we can really use your help in two ways. First, please tell your friends and family about our house concert series. I wanted to remind you that I myself have a new CD release out called 'Scribe And Jester'. I will be hosting a CD Release open house on Saturday July 30 from 1:00-3:30PM at the Lincoln Community Center, 1255 Manchester Rd, Erie, PA, 16505 (the room is in the new Erie County Library Branch near Fairview PA). I'll be spinning tracks from the disc, playing songs live, and chatting with you! You can also meet Bryan Toy there, he's the graphic artist who did all of the amazing cover art. It's an open house, so come in when you can, leave when you need to. I really hope you can join us.

Hello prospective performers!
We realize we have a backlog of submissions to paw through. Rest assured, if you have submitted an email to us regarding performance scheduling for 2011 we will get back to you ASAP.

FYI, we do have a few "verbal handshakes" with some artists at this time, so we will be booking them first if possible (based on dates they are available). This is also a good time to mention that if we do not select you for a house concert it is not a reflection on your abilities as a performer. Sometimes we receive submissions that are just not the right fit for our audiences.

Most importantly, we wish you peace and happiness during this marvelous season of reflection. No matter what faith, belief or lifestyle you follow at this point in your life, we hope that the creative spark which inspires you will be coaxed into flame in the future... (that's a metaphor, please don't burn anything because we said you should).

A strong steady thumb on an old Gibson guitar is the driving force behind Danielle Miraglia's delta blues influenced guitar style. Add a raw, powerful, whiskey tinged voice and one might be tempted to label her a blues artist. But while Miraglia's style pays homage to these blues traditions, her classic rock verve, catchy melodies and eclectic array of song subjects that range from deeply personal to socially relevant give it an original twist that is all her own. A fresh sound along with a sharp wit and a captivating stage presence is gaining her fans all over the map. "It won't be long before the rest of the country takes notice." - Performing Songwriter.

Raised just outside of Boston in Revere, MA, where its famous beach is better known for girls with big hair than its history as a popular tourist attraction, Miraglia was raised on a variety of popular music, from her parent's Motown records to the classic rock influences like The Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin that encouraged her to learn to play guitar at thirteen. A passion for the arts and an outstanding gift for writing lead her to Emerson College in Boston's downtown theater district. After graduating with a degree in Creative Writing, she put her writing skills, originally intended for novels, towards songwriting and began performing at open mike nights in the Boston area. This set in motion what would become a full-time career in music.

What great weather we've had here, and the summer series of concerts is in full swing! This Saturday July 10 we present New York singer/songwriter JOE IADANZA to the stage. Joe toured outside the US about a month ago and is very busy touring and promoting his latest CD release. It will be a great show, get your reservation in now!

AS ALWAYS:

Potluck dinner at 6PM (bring a dish to share if you'd like to come and eat before the show). We will begin a waiting list after 30 seats are reserved, so do it now! No one under 18 years of age please... BIG FUN, little cost...only $10-12! (suggested donation)

A grand success!

The first house concert for the summer was an unqualified success - I'm so pleased that everyone had a good time. We ended up housing the musicians for an extra night, they really enjoyed the lake and a little down time. Photos from the house concert are below. Our next show is coming up quickly!

On Saturday July 10 we will present Joe Iadanza, a very talented singer-songwriter. You won't want to miss this one! As always, we will have a potluck dinner at 6PM - a great time to meet the performer and have some tasty dinner! The show is 7-9PM, presented in two 45 minute sets. I went out and saw 'The Barefoot Movement' perform last night. Wow! If you are attending tonight's performance at the HHCS, you are in for a TREAT!

The Barefoot Movement is an acoustic trio with members hailing from Granville County , North Carolina and Oneida, TN. The group fuses the styles of bluegrass, old-time, Americana, and rock, creating an eclectic, original sound, featuring interweaving harmonies, progressive instrumentation, and accomplished songwriting.

We are now in the process of putting together our V.I.L. list (the VERY IMPORTANT LISTENER list). If you plan to be on the V.I.L. list, we need your help! June show date ALMOST hammered down...

Hi folks and fans-

My diligence is paying off for you! I have some REALLY great artists interested in our Summer house concert series for 2010.

PLEASE pencil in FRIDAY JUNE 18 and SATURDAY JUNE 19 for our first summer concert. There are some final details to take care of before I can post the actual date, but it will be one of those. As soon as the date is finalized I'll let you know and you can INK it onto your calendar. This concert will be a POTLUCK dinner at 6PM followed by the show at 7PM.

Be aware, that our seating will be maxed out at about 40 seats, so when you want to attend it's best if you contact me ASAP so that I can reserve your seat. Once we get past 40 reservations I'll start putting people on the waiting list. In that event I would contact the waiting list (IN ORDER)whenever I get a cancellation.

FINALLY - the donation suggestion will be $12 per person for each show. That includes the pot luck dinner and the show! No one under 18 years of age please... BIG FUN, little cost...

Laurie and I are prepared to venture into the musical torrent of hosting house concerts. We had an opportunity to test these waters years ago with our friends Don and Kate, with great success! Come June we will be hosting our first concert for 2010.

Some details for musicians

I'm currently hammering out the details of what visiting musicians and fans (audience members) can expect at the HHCS.

Performing musicians will have a free room, at least one free meal (we are a house full of good cooks!), the bulk of the donations from audience members (minus a small percentage for the house to defray event costs), and an area to display and sell their merchandise.

At this point most visitors to this blog will be musicians, so if you're interested in performing here please contact me. We plan to begin the 2010 series in June. Thanks!

Laurie and I are starting a House Concert series right here in Fairview PA. The main goal is to give friends, neighbors and fans a place to enjoy great live music without having to deal with noisy bars, noisy coffee machines, and all the other distractions that occur in traditional live music venues.

An equally important goal is to provide talented musicians the opportunity to play for folks who are genuinely interested in hearing their music!

I will be using this blog to keep communication open between artists, fans and volunteers. I will be posting the schedules here, and I welcome all comments and suggestions as we move through this process.
